2/3 CLASS

This course, available at all our Faith Montessori locations, is open to 2 and 3 year olds beginning their Montessori journey.

At our school, the children learn from each other and absorb information at their own pace. The teacher is there to assist and direct in the activities that they choose to work on. The classroom is set up to provide easy access to all activities, they can see and reach all available work.

In the toddler program, we begin our day with Circle Time. This is a time when the themes and lessons will be taught to the group. We will review the calendar, discuss Bible themes, read stories, and share individual news.

Then, we will focus on four main subject areas: Sensorial Math, Language, Science, and Bible; with Practical Life works being introduced throughout the day. Below you can find an explanation of each area. They will also have free time daily to go outside or the gym, weather depending.

Sensorial Math: Children will learn numbers, quantities, counting, basic addition and subtraction through sensorial work. The sensorial materials refine the senses and develop cognitive skills such as thinking, judging, associating, and comparing.

Language: Our goal is to build early literacy skills by providing varied opportunities for children to develop communication skills and phonetic awareness. We focus on oral language, phonics, letter formation, writing, reading and early literacy skills.

Science: It is important for young children to learn about history, their environment, nature and science to help them understand their place in the world and spark their curiosity in the world itself. We spark each child’s natural curiosity through discovery projects and experiments with a focus on God.

Bible: Time is set aside each day to explore God’s message. Children will hear bible stories, sing songs about faith, and deepen their relationship with God through creative and engaging lessons.

Practical Life: This curriculum incorporates exercises and activities that children observe in daily life. These activities develop children’s independence, concentration, and fine motor skills. They often involve cutting, painting, pouring, packing, tying, zipping, and buttoning, to name a few.

During the day, the children will enjoy a healthy snack together. At this time they will learn the importance of manners and feeding our bodies with good fuel. Please note, our facilities are not nut free.

A few things to note about our preschool classes:

* Children in the 2|3 Preschool Class do not need to be potty trained to attend.
